‘the most beautiful cottage in the valley?’

Zakkum Evi is a perfect example of how appearances can be deceptive. From the outside, the villa looks as if it has been sitting in the same spot for a century or more. In fact, it was built recently using local materials (including old stone) and conceived in total sympathy with the surroundings.

Entrance is through a beautiful 150-year-old, intricately-carved, solid wood door. The owners, Cath and Can, are good friends of ours and they were so determined to use the door that they built the villa around the door frame, to be sure it would fit!

The exterior is very attractive, but it is the interior that is the real revelation. Modern design and excellent taste have been shown throughout, with Cath and Can’s aim being to make Zakkum Evi the best villa in Kaya. We leave it to you to decide between Zakkum Evi and their other creation Levissi Lodge!

The garden is a decent size, with a pool and attractive decking area which is shaded by a tree. Lycian and Roman stones are used as decoration in the garden indeed Kaya’s rich history is a source of inspiration throughout the villa.

Those who enjoy walking are well catered for, with a plethora of trails leading through the valley and into the surrounding mountains and forests. An inclusive car is provided, allowing easy access to the nearby secluded beach at Gemiler and the hidden delights of the Fethiye peninsula, together with the more commercial attractions of the renowned beach at Ölü Deniz, and the Lycian Coast beyond.
